BIOGRAPHY

I was born in Alabama and grew up in a military family in several different locations around the country. I spent many years in Ohio, and since 1993 I have lived at Lake Norman, NC with my husband and our Siamese cats.

Living and boating on Lake Norman provide daily inspiration, from the breathtaking colors of sunrises and sunsets to the ever changing views of the lake and the fascinating local wildlife. I recently completed a series of Great Blue Heron paintings inspired by an island rookery near my home. My cats are the subject of several of my paintings, and I also paint to save memories of trips to other places. I recently returned from New Mexico and have started a series based on that trip. Two paintings in my Landscapes Gallery, Cliffs @ Abiquiu and Stone Church Near Espanola, are the first in that series. I participate in figure drawing groups with live models, and I love to paint abstract pieces just for the fun of it.

I am an active member of the Mooresville Artist Guild and Lakeside Artists.

Experimenting and working with many different media and different styles is exciting. I'm currently working mainly in acrylics and mixed media, but also enjoy pastels, collage and watercolor.

I was awarded a scholarship and attended Columbus College of Art and Design in Ohio. I have continued my art education by regularly participating in workshops and classes. I have received many awards for my work in various shows, and my work has been accepted into invitational and juried shows. I have had several solo exhibitions, and my work is represented in private collections throughout the country.
